OSU President Resigns After 3.5 Years

Oklahoma State University’s president Kayse Shrum resigned, effective Monday.

The OSU A&M Board of Regents, which governs one of the state’s flagship schools, announced they had accepted her resignation Wednesday. It wasn’t immediately clear why the board waited until Wednesday to announce the departure, and a press release did not cite a reason for Shrum’s resignation.

Shrum was the 19th OSU president and the first woman to lead a public research institution in Oklahoma.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Shrum for her dedicated leadership, unwavering commitment to students, and significant contributions to the OSU System,” the Regents said in a statement.

Serving as president since July 2021, Shrum’s sudden resignation will prompt the OSU regents to search for a new president. An interim president was not immediately named.

She previously worked as president of the OSU Center for Health Sciences and as a pediatrician.
