Traffic Switch Scheduled for U.S. 54 Work

Traffic on U.S. Highway 54 in Kingman County is scheduled to be switched onto newly constructed pavement on Monday, Dec. 16 as part of the ongoing reconstruction project.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project involves full-depth pavement reconstruction, grading and replacement of bridge decks over the Kansas Highway 14 interchange. The project spans just over seven miles, from K-14 east to the Sedgwick County line.

Work will continue over the winter on this project, and traffic on the four-lane highway will continue to be restricted to one lane each way, with traffic shifted to the same side of the highway. Motorists should be prepared to drive at reduced speeds. At the K-14 interchange, ramp closures may occur intermittently, with traffic redirected to nearby interchanges as needed.
